What are the legal restrictions on the background check of candidates?


Can the employer perform background check on candidates to be hired, such as the educational background, financial incomes, past work records and performances, criminal records, etc.?

    As of August 8th, at least such provinces and cities as Beijing, Tianjin, Shandong, Shanxi, Henan, Shaanxi, Anhui, Jilin ,Inner Mongolia and Jiangxi have released enterprise wage guidelines for 2017 which have provided enterprises with guiding suggestions with respect to employee’s salary adjustment (non-mandatory).

    A report referring to 13 “new first-tier” cities as Hangzhou, Nanjing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Wuhan and other cities showed that, the average monthly income of graduates who graduated in 2016 with bachelor degree working in “new first-tier” cities is RMB 4,217, RMB 1,220 lower than that of graduates with bachelor degree working in first-tier cities.
